Costa Rica! This beautiful country is known for its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and incredible wildlife.

Its territory is so small that it encompasses only 0.03 per cent of the planet´s surface but is still within the top 20 richest countries in biodiversity on Earth in terms of species density.

It is also home to some of the most important turtle-nesting beaches in the world, where it is still possible to witness this old survival ritual. Marine turtles have inhabited the Earth for over 100 million years, surviving extreme climatic changes.

Come with me - let's go explore Costa Rica!

The in-country team will give us a run-through of what we'll be getting up to during this epic adventure, explain the do's and don'ts, the culture and customs, the day-to-day itinerary and offer some tips to help us get the most out of this trip.

We will then head off to the Coast! Travelling by air-conditioned bus, the journey takes around 7 scenic hours with stops along the way.

  • Working with a local award-winning initiative we will do a variety of tasks that not only focus on the turtle population but also the education of the local community.

The beaches in the area are stunning and have been the fertile breeding grounds for these turtles for thousands of years. Together we'll work to reverse the negative effects that humans have created and ensure that these legendary creatures continue to have a safe and sacred land for breeding.

We will get involved with beach cleanups, night patrols and educating the local community. Each and every task will play an important part in achieving the overall goal of improving the lives of and sustaining the population of Costa Rica's sea turtles.
